BOTANY TOWN CENTRE TEAMS WITH DRESS FOR SUCCESS
TO CELEBRATE SOPHIE FALKINER’S APPOINTMENT
Popular Australian media personality and TV presenter Sophie Falkiner has been named the new ambassador for AMP Capital Shopping Centres. Sophie is best known as the presenter of some of our Downunder cousin’s most popular television programmes, including Wheel of Fortune, TV One’s The Great Outdoors, and Confidential. Last Friday Sophie visited New Zealand to celebrate her new ambassadorship, with launch celebrations including a partnership with Dress for Success.
Dress for Success is a charity helping women in need to get jobs and keep working by providing clothes and advice to boost their self-esteem and independence. Sarah Guy-Anderson, a former client of the not-for-profit organization, enjoyed a morning tea and a spot of shopping with Sophie at Botany Town Centre, on Friday 16 May.
Jennifer Manning, Botany Town Centre Senior Manager, says the centre’s team is excited about the partnership with Dress for Success and the appointment of Sophie Falkiner. “Sophie is a working mum and understands the juggling act thousands of Kiwi mothers perform every day, launching her as our ambassador was an excellent opportunity to celebrate working women in New Zealand. Botany Town Centre is looking forward to teaming with Dress for Success and Sophie Falkiner to cheer on hard-working Kiwi women. Sarah’s inspiring story will touch the hearts of many New Zealand women and give many the confidence to achieve great things.”
When her marriage ended, Sarah was left to raise her boys, aged four and two, on her own. She arrived at Dress for Success tired from caring for her sons and came out, she says, feeling like a model.
“I can’t rave
enough about my experience!” Sarah says. “The volunteers
were great and made the whole experience a lot of fun – it
was like shopping with my friends. The clothes are great
quality and very fashionable.”
Now a part-time
programme director for Jenny Craig, Sarah says she loves her
job, and the knowledge that everything she has, she has
earned. “You can’t truly appreciate how far you’ve
come without having a starting point. I know there are so
many people who are in the position I was, and I feel very
blessed to be able to give them a voice, and let them know
about Dress for Success. My life has undoubtedly been
enhanced by this generous and empowering
organization.
“I want to be successful in whatever I turn my hand to, and to provide a happy, stable life for my sons, so they become the best men they can be. And I want to travel.”
Sarah and Sophie will got to know each other over morning tea at Botany Town Centre on Friday 16 May, before checking out a store or two to each select a new outfit that’s just right for the working mum.
