Dynamic Controls gives Ministers preview of new technology

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Michael Cullen and Commerce Minister Lianne Dalziel got a sneak preview today of Dynamic Controls new wheelchair technology, due for official launch in New Zealand in the next few weeks.

Dynamic Controls’ CEO Charlotte Walshe hosted the Ministers prior to their pre-budget speech in Christchurch to talk about innovation and DYNAMIC’s growing business.

“Our goal is to be internationally recognised as a leading bio-medical engineering innovator, building on our current position as the world’s largest producer of hi-tech electronic controls for power wheelchairs and mobility scooters. We aim to provide answers that help people to gain and maintain their physical independence.

“We’re pleased to show the Ministers our latest commercialised wheelchair the ‘DX2’ but we won’t give full details of it until we launch it here in early June.

“Also this week we are announcing the production of the first HumanWare products which shows the success of our contract manufacturing strategy. We’re on track to increase income by 10 percent a year, and build our internal capability through manufacturing other companies smart biomedical technologies,” said Charlotte Walshe.

Dynamic announced in March this year that its contract with HumanWare to manufacture their high technology aids for blind and low vision people had prevented their manufacture heading to North America “We have demonstrated that we can manufacture HumanWare’s products locally at a competitive price and retain many existing jobs in the process,” said Charlotte Walshe.

Dynamic’s Christchurch headquarters houses its global research and development centre and its contract manufacturing division is one of the largest sub-contract manufacturers of electronic equipment in Australasia

Dynamic was not expecting a sneak preview of the budget in exchange for a preview of the DX2 to Hon Dr Cullen.
