PGG Wrightson acquires Akaroa business

News release

PGG Wrightson Real Estate acquires Akaroa business of First National

PGG Wrightson Real Estate has purchased the Akaroa business of First National Real Estate.

Stuart Cooper, general manager of PGG Wrightson Real Estate, said he expected the nationwide rural-based company’s many Canterbury farming clients would welcome the acquisition.

“Many of our Canterbury farming clients enjoy holidaying on the Peninsula. It is also a popular retirement spot. With a number of new developments proposed, the Peninsula will continue to attract those looking for a holiday retreat, as well as those seeking a permanent home.

“In other regions, particularly in the North Island, we have used our traditional strength in the rural and lifestyle property sector as a stepping point to establish a presence in a different market sector. Now in Canterbury we can also take the proven systems we have developed and utilise them to market residential and lifestyle property on the Peninsula,” he said.

Lyndon Graham will manage PGG Wrightson Real Estate Akaroa, assisted by Peter Keppel and Evan Marshall. Stuart Cooper said all three have extensive local knowledge and real estate experience.

“PGG Wrightson Real Estate traditionally has a strong rural business, servicing a large client base. The opportunity to open a new office, with a number of new sales consultants, will help us grow our share of the rural and other sectors of the property market in the area.

“When supported by the nationwide network and international marketing connections PGG Wrightson Real Estate brings, we are confident this team will provide a superior option to Banks Peninsula homeowners seeking to sell, which will quickly enable us to further grow the share of the Banks Peninsula property market held by the company, and formerly held by First National, in the rural, lifestyle and residential sectors of the market,” he said.

PGG Wrightson Real Estate currently employs 416 sales people in a nationwide network of 64 offices in New Zealand, plus four in Australia.
