Free Library and Information Website for Exporters
The New Zealand School of Export has made its online Export Library & Information Service (ELIS) freely available to all New Zealand exporters. Initially developed for those enrolled in the School’s internationally accredited Diploma of International Trade, a significant part of the service has been opened to all as befits the School’s charitable status.
The library is unique in that for the first time, a huge amount of key information has been brought together in one location, providing a one stop shop for exporters seeking anything from country profiles to foreign exchange rates and time zone information.
Accessed through the New Zealand School of Export website www.export.ac.nz, the service has been developed by Graeme Siddle, Head of Library and Information Services, who says “ELIS allows exporters to search for everything they need from a single site, saving an enormous amount of time”.
Dr Romuald Rudzki, Director of the School, is unequivocal about the benefits: “Increasingly, the difference between companies is based on how they use information to gain an advantage over their competitors. In the past this has meant sitting in libraries looking up trade directories and the like, but ELIS is the next stage in the evolution of information services and one which can give New Zealand companies the edge over their foreign competitors. ELIS may well become the global standard for export libraries elsewhere as Graeme has scanned the globe and was unable to find anything better.”
