Hard work pays off for Harcourts’ No. 1 in Northern region
6 May 2008: One of Harcourts hardest working and most consistent performers, Matty Ma, was today named as the Number One
Sales Consultant in the group’s Northern region for the 2007/08 financial year.
Ms Ma, who is based in Harcourts Glenfield office, is among the most successful real estate agents in the Auckland
market. Also number one in Harcourts Northern region in the 2004/05 financial year she has consistently maintained a
place in Harcourts top 20 nationally since 2003.
Originally from China, the mother of three who joined Harcourts in 2001 was honoured by her peers today at an end of
year awards function held at the Langholm Hotel and attended by around 300 people.
At the function Harcourts also announced that Trevor Hyland from Harcourts Whangaparoa and Todd Cooper from Harcourts
Orewa were number two and number three respectively in Harcourts Northern region for the year ended 31 March 2008.
Jean-Paul Winckel from Harcourts Pukekohe Rural office was named the group’s Top Rural Sales Consultant in the Northern
region, while Tim Turner from Harcourts Takapuna was named Top Commercial Sales Consultant in the region. Sue Graham
from Harcourts Kumeu was named Harcourts Rookie of the Year for the region.
Harcourts New Zealand CEO Bryan Thomson says Ms Ma is a quiet achiever who consistently conducts a phenomenal amount of
business.
“She is renowned for being totally committed and for her huge capacity for hard work, which year after year sees her
settling a phenomenal amount of sales and therefore repeatedly putting her amongst Harcourts top ranks,” he says.
“Last year named 10th in Harcourts New Zealand, the country’s largest real estate group, and 18th internationally in our
company, Matty epitomises what can be achieved in real estate with motivation, focus and tenacity,” he says.
Ms Ma, whose clients include developers, business owners and residential buyers from overseas and locally, says she is
honoured by the latest accolade.
“My focus is on providing the best possible service to my clients, including using my knowledge and experience to pair
buyers with the right property. Receiving the honour of being named number one in Harcourts Northern region is a
wonderful bonus.”
Ms Ma, who is fluent in both English and Mandarin and has three children aged nine, five and three, says being able to
relate to a wide range of people “because I’m a professional and also a mother and housewife” helps her to achieve
success. She also credits her persistence, hard work and professionalism.
“I am also fortunate to benefit from a fantastic support team, who assist me in delivering results to the large and
varied client base I serve.”
Martin Cooper, a successful Harcourts Business Owner who owns multiple offices on the North Shore including the
Glenfield office where Ms Ma is based, describes the Northern Region’s Number One as “a natural talent”.
“Matty was born to be a real estate professional. She is just so good to watch in action, she’s totally professional and
has real empathy for people – she’s natural talent.”
Today’s event was the first of four regional awards functions Harcourts is holding around the country this week prior to
the group’s highly anticipated National Awards function at the company’s Annual Conference, which this year is being
held in Christchurch from 26 – 28 May, with around 800 Harcourts delegates attending.
