Controversial Billboards Being Changed
APN Outdoor says it is in the process of changing a number of Auckland billboards that have attracted complaints about their content.
The Advertising Standards Authority upheld complaints about the seven billboards, featuring assistance for men’s sexual dysfunction, in a decision delivered last Wednesday and APN Outdoor General Manager Phil Clemas said his staff had since received a number of calls questioning why the billboards were still in place.
``We were advised just this morning (Monday) that the client wanted to change the content of the billboards and we’ve been organising the logistics since,’’ says Mr Clemas.
``While we provide the billboard sites we are at the end of a chain that includes the Australian-based client, their advertising agency in Australia and the specialist printers who can print the skins required for these billboards,’’ says Mr Clemas. ``We also have to source the specialist staff and the appropriate permits to work on these sites, two of which require an abseiling team and others that require permission to work alongside the rail or road corridors.’’
Mr Clemas said that provided he could secure the abseiling team he needed – who were currently busy on other work – the billboards would all be changed by late Wednesday.
