MYOB Overall Winner At Vero Awards

Media release: 17 April 2007

MYOB Overall Winner At Vero Awards

One of the country’s leading suppliers of business solutions, MYOB, has won the overall award and the large business section at the 2008 Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards.

The Awards recognize organisations and individuals that make real contributions in providing quality products and services, making life easier for business owners. The Awards were announced at a gala dinner, held last night at the Logan Campbell Centre in Auckland.

MYOB managing director Matt Lynch says MYOB’s success in business support is as much about the achievements of a nationwide network of people, as it is about the company’s services and solutions.

“In the current environment especially, New Zealand businesses need comprehensive support,” says Matt Lynch.

“They need expert support – delivered how and when they need it, training and education to make the most of their business, regular help in dealing with the latest legislative changes, in-depth advice on a wide range of business issues, outsourced services to cope with changes in demand or the business environment, and a range of tailored solutions that work for their business.”

Over the last three years, MYOB has introduced a range of support initiatives that drive solutions for local businesses, including a nationwide seminar programme, a comprehensive bureau service for payroll, a dedicated Education and Training division – delivering standardised MYOB training – and a comprehensive MYOB businesSUPPORT programme. To support the next generation of Kiwi business-people, MYOB has also provided 500 education kits, free-of-charge, to local secondary schools.

The company also works with over 70% of accountants in practice, and a nationwide network of Approved Partners to deliver tailored regional support.

“Our first focus is the people that use our products and services,” says Matt Lynch.

“So we feel it’s vital to be constantly talking to our clients, asking what they need, and listening to what they are telling us.”

In response to demand from local businesses, MYOB’s recent development has also seen the company provide a greater range of support to employers. The company now helps pay over 40% of the country’s employees. More than 80% of all electronic tax returns (1.3 million) were filed using an MYOB product in 2007.

“We see ourselves as a service business – providing not only great business software but all the support, training, help and advice businesses need to have success,” says Matt Lynch.

“To ensure that service is great, we have internationally benchmarked service standards. These are not only designed to ensure our clients get the help they need, but that our staff are recognised and valued for the work they do.”

“We see this award as recognition of our success in providing a network of support for many thousands of local businesses,” says Matt Lynch.

“And we view it as encouragement to keep working hard for New Zealanders.”
