Dress-Smart to the rescue … fundraising for a new St John ambulance
St John has joined forces with outlet shopping centre Dress-Smart Hornby to raise funds to provide a new St John ambulance to service the Canterbury region.
Claire Robb, Corporate Relationship Coordinator for St John said they hoped the partnership with Dress-Smart would raise awareness of St John services in the local community as well as generating much needed funds.
“Our fleet of ambulances is maintained to a high level, but the wear and tear of the job means that both the ambulances and the onboard equipment do need to be replaced.
“We are delighted to be selected by Dress-Smart Hornby as their ‘Charity of Choice’ because the support of such organisations is critical in helping us to achieve this.”
Dress-Smart Hornby Centre Manager Mike Smith said he has a number of exciting fundraising plans.
“We are planning to hold special fund raising events at Dress-Smart such as charity auctions and VIP nights. We’ll also have St John collection buckets in all Dress-Smart stores and we’re confident our shoppers will support this much-needed community service.
“Our fundraising effort starts today and runs until November, coinciding with the completion of the expansion works currently taking place at Dress-Smart.”
Mike said that St John is an incredibly well known and loved charity that does absolutely critical work throughout New Zealand.
“We are particularly pleased with this partnership as it is an ideal way for us to be even more closely involved with our local community here in Christchurch.”
ENDS
St John operates as a charitable organisation and serves communities throughout New Zealand by delivering ambulance services for approximately 85% of New Zealand’s population. Its fleet of ambulances, four-wheel drive vehicles, and rapid response units ensure St John goes to the aid of New Zealanders at any hour of the day in almost any terrain, weather or situation.
Dress-Smart Hornby is the South Island’s only outlet shopping centre. It attracts shoppers from Christchurch and surrounding regions, plus other mainlanders and tourists from further afield. It is presently going through its second major expansion in three years, which will create space for between 15 and 20 new stores.
