Fairfax Media Makes Two Senior Appointments

Joan Withers, Chief Executive Officer, Fairfax Media, has announced appointments to two newly created senior positions.

David Gadd, Managing Editor - Business

David Gadd has been appointed to the newly created position of Managing Editor - Business for Fairfax Media.

He will be directly responsible for the group’s business newspaper, the Independent Financial Review, and its online business news and information services. He will work closely with editors and business editors throughout Fairfax Media and co-ordinate the group’s business journalism.

He will report to Group Executive Editor Paul Thompson, and his direct reports will be Nick Stride, editor of the IFR, and Gareth Vaughan, online business editor.

David’s mandate is to further strengthen Fairfax Media’s extensive business news expertise and capabilities.

For the past three years David has been Strategy & Business Improvement Manager, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Joan Withers. His early media experience was in community and daily newspaper journalism.

Tanya Speir, Group Strategy Manager

Tanya Speir has been appointed to the newly created position of Group Strategy Manager, and will be responsible for evaluating future trends that have the potential to impact on the group.
