Airport Announces Sponsorship for Flower Show
Christchurch International Airport Ltd (CIAL) is pleased to announce its sponsorship support for the Ellerslie International Flower Show, to be held in Christchurch from 11-15 March 2009.
CIAL's alignment with this prestigious flower show reinforces the company's commitment to growing South Island tourism. "We are delighted to be sponsoring this world class event, and what better place to do it than the Garden City," said Rene Bakx, CIAL's Chief Executive. "As the gateway for the best of the South Island, we are excited about being involved in marketing the flower show domestically and internationally to help bring people to Christchurch and the South Island for the event."
The airport company's support for the Ellerslie International Flower Show complements CIAL's sponsorship portfolio by reaching the domestic market, and growing international markets, including Japan, China and Korea. CIAL is involved in the marketing of the event to promote travel to the South Island in the shoulder season through Christchurch, New Zealand's gateway airport for holiday travel.
Christchurch Mayor, Bob Parker, welcomes CIAL onboard as a sponsor. "The fact that CIAL has recognised the importance of the Ellerslie International Flower Show as a significant event for our city, and that it will attract thousands of visitors, is a great vote of confidence in this wonderful event coming to Christchurch," he said.
CIAL has committed to a three year silver sponsorship and has been involved since the early stages to bring the show to Christchurch, following the successful pitch from the Christchurch City Council for the event.
Ellerslie International Flower Show is the largest, most exciting and innovative garden and outdoor show in the Southern Hemisphere, currently attracting over 65,000 people over five days. It has been held in the Auckland region since its inception in 1994 and is worth more than $14 million a year to the local economy. Ellerslie International Flower Show enjoys brand recognition around the world and is an established event on the garden show 'calendar'.
