Special coastal Otago subdivision proves popular

7 March 2008:  A special coastal subdivision near Dunedin, Moturata Views, has attracted significant interest, with more than 100 people attending an on-site auction last week, three of the exclusive sections sold on the day and one the day after.

Located on the outskirts of Taieri Mouth township and just 38km from Dunedin’s CBD and 28km from Milton, Moturata Views is an exclusive eight hectare beachfront subdivision comprising eight sections – two of which are still being developed.

Being marketed by Kaaren Dooher and Jim Packer of Harcourts Mosgiel, the sections, which are located on the Southern Scenic Route at 7 Akatore Road, all have beach access via a private landscaped walkway and unsurpassed coastal views that include the subdivision’s namesake, Moturata Island.

Mr Packer says the sub-division has attracted considerable interest, mostly from Otago and Southland, with a few overseas enquiries too.  “The vendors did an excellent job in presenting this special subdivision for sale and agreed to an extensive marketing campaign which meant the on-site 1 March auction drew a crowd of more than 100 people and resulted in three of the six sections on the market being sold on the day – one under the hammer and two immediately afterwards,” he says.

“All of the buyers – three of which came from the Greater Dunedin area and one from Gore - have plans to build.”

Two lots are still on the market (both being marketed with a price), while expressions of interest are being sought in the final two lots which are still under development.  Lot 4 is a 0.73ha section priced at $120,000; Lot 9 is a 3ha waterfront section priced at $500,000. Lots 2 and 3 are still being developed, however interest is encouraged.
