New Chairman At PPCS Limited
PPCS Director Eoin Garden has been appointed Chairman of PPCS Limited effective today, and Richard Somerville continues as Deputy Chairman.
Mr Garden joined the Board in 1998 and is a shareholder-elected director farming in Central Otago. A biography is included below.
Mr Garden said: “I look forward to working with the new and existing Board directors to continue the momentum we have achieved in re-positioning the company for future profitability.
“PPCS is committed to improving livestock farmer returns by making improvements in its own business and advocating for sustainable industry reform,” he said.
Mr Garden succeeds Reese Hart who retired by rotation and who was not reelected. He thanked Mr Hart for his service to the Board and contribution to the company.
“Reese has been an outstanding Chairman, providing leadership at a time of significant change for PPCS and the wider meat industry.
“We thank him for the very great contribution he has made in 22 years’ service to PPCS, including the last two years as Chairman,” said Mr Garden.
Mr Garden also thanked former director Alistair Polson for his six months’ service to the Board who retired by rotation and who also was not re-elected.
Mr Garden welcomed the three new directors joining the Board as a result of the recent director elections: Ian Grogan, Herstall Ulrich and Rob Hewett. Ian Grogan has money market experience and farms in the Manawatu. Rob Hewett has commercial marketing and business experience and farms in West Otago. Herstall Ulrich has considerable experience in governance roles and farms near Cave, South Canterbury.
PPCS is a 100 percent farmer-owned co-operative. Its Board currently comprises ten supplier directors and two Board-appointed independent directors.
