Air New Zealand’s “Pink Flight of Fabulosity”
Kiwi Mardi Gras party-goers looking to celebrate the 30th anniversary Sydney Mardi Gras in style will not be disappointed with a tropical Pink Paradiso experience for Air New Zealand’s “Pink Flight of Fabulosity” today.
Flight NZ1105 from Auckland to Sydney, hosted by famous New Zealand drag queen Buckwheat, will encapsulate a tropical pink paradiso theme at the departure gate party and onboard.
The sell-out flight will be a visual feast of pink including hibiscus flowers, leis, kaftans and cocktails being just some of the things on offer, says our own Tropical Queen Buckwheat.
“It will be the perfect pink tropical Mardi Gras holiday with even more drag queens and hot muscle men. Wear whatever pink that tickles your fancy because we’re going to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Mardi Gras in true style You won’t want to miss out on this because Club Tropicana drinks are most definitely free on the Pink Flight!” says Buckwheat.
The Pink Flight of Fabulosity builds on the success of the 2007 inaugural “Flight of the Fairies” which many pundits dubbed the party of the year, says Air New Zealand General Manager New Zealand and Pacific Islands Cam Wallace.
“The vibe onboard was electric as people got into the Mardi Gras spirit. The participating cabin crew said it was the most fun and laughs they’d ever experienced on a flight.
“We’ll be taking it to the next level for the Pink Flight of Fabulosity – making sure that it’s a bigger and brighter experience!”
The tropical treats begin at check-in where passengers will receive a pink lei to get them into party mode. The tropical theme continues when they move to the departure gate where Buckwheat and the other queens Miss Ribena, Bambi, Venus Mantrap and Tess will host a pre-departure party including 42 BELOW pink cocktails and canapés.
There’s no rest for the wicked in-flight where Buckwheat and her girls will continue to entertain those onboard. Serving drinks and sashaying down the aisle are part of their on-board duties.
Today’s themed flight is hot on the high heels of Air New Zealand’s first North American pink flight, which transported more than 300 passengers in style from San Francisco to Sydney. Emmy-award winner Kathy Griffin was the official “hostess” for the 777 flight, which departed San Francisco on 26 February
