Current Alarm Systems Are Not Compatible With Broadband VoIP
Alarm New Zealand “ALARMNZ” an accredited broadband Alarm monitoring software developer has announced that sending Alarm
signals by VoIP via broadband is unreliable and not suitable for the Alarm industry.
After five years testing various Broadband solutions for Alarm systems ALARMNZ has now abandoned all VoIP development.
The company states that while its possible to produce a reliable VoIP solution, it will likely never be implemented due
to the move away from dialup analog Alarm systems towards broadband alarm protocols now being used by the worldwide
Alarm manufacturing industry.
The same ALARMNZ development team who lead the world by developing web based Alarm services in the early 1990’s is well
qualified to make this judgment call about the use of VoIP for the Alarm industry. Last year ALARMNZ released and the
worlds first open standard broadband Alarm protocol, which has been adopted by most major alarm manufacturers.
Existing Alarm owners thinking of converting their home or business over to broadband VoIP will have three options to
keep their current Alarm system running, either retain an existing analog telephone circuit, fit a dialup analog to
digital broadband Alarm converter or replace the main alarm system control board with a broadband Alarm version.
ISP’s seeking to challenge existing analog voice services, by offering broadband only for commercial and residential
customers, are now obtaining urgent consultancy advice from ALARMNZ as to the exact nature of the VoIP Alarm problem and
seeking various proven solutions developed by ALARMNZ that make existing alarm systems work with broadband.
