Noel Leeming New Zealand’s First Energy Star Retail Partner
Noel Leeming, New Zealand’s leading appliance and electronics retailer, has made a commitment to energy efficiency by becoming New Zealand’s first ENERGY STAR retail partner.
ENERGY STAR is an independent, international labeling programme that identifies the most energy-efficient consumer electronics and home appliances. It is administered and promoted in New Zealand by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA).
By choosing ENERGY STAR appliances, Noel Leeming customers will save electricity, save money and benefit the environment.
As an ENERGY STAR retail partner, all Noel Leeming products that qualify for ENERGY STAR will carry a label and be clearly visible throughout all stores. Staff will be trained to answer customer questions about the benefits of purchasing an Energy Star product.
EECA approached the Noel Leeming Group as they recognised their commitment to the environment. “We were looking for a retail partner and Noel Leeming saw the value of ENERGY STAR for their consumers”, said Mike Underhill, Chief Executive of EECA.
Underhill continues, “Our research has shown us that nearly 80% of consumers would consider energy efficiency when choosing a product, and one of the most effective times to give them that information is when they are in the store, about to make a purchase.”
“Not only does this partnership help consumers, it also encourages manufactures to provide more and more products that meet the ENERGY STAR mark as consumer demand grows,” Mike Underhill said.
Andrew Dutkiewicz, CEO of Noel Leeming Group says, “We’re pleased to be on-board with ENERGY STAR. Our customers are increasingly looking for guidance on choosing products that use less energy. ENERGY STAR products are the best way to offer customers options for purchasing energy-efficient appliances.”
Products that carry the ENERGY STAR label include dishwashers, washing machines, heat pumps, TVs, DVD players, home theatre systems, computers and office equipment. The already extensive range will soon include fridges and freezers.
“With the clarity provided by the ENERGY STAR label, customers will have assurance they are reducing their energy usage and getting more from each unit of energy used. This in turn means lower power bills and less of an impact on the environment,” continues Mr Dutkiewicz.
Mike Underhill commends Noel Leeming Group for their enthusiastic support for the labeling system. He says, “New Zealanders are buying more and more products, and energy prices are increasing, so it is really important that people are making the most energy efficient choices they can. Working with the Noel Leeming Group, we can make it easier for people to make better choices.”
