Punter Successfully Follows Destination Summer Holiday Racing to Win Car
The first of three Ford Focus cars up for grabs at Springfresh Destination Summer Holiday Racing events was won on race 6 at Otaki on Sunday 6 January.
Mr Earle Hawtin of Taita won the Ford Focus car, a $1000 Air New Zealand Holiday voucher and a share of the $25,000 prize pool by being the only entrant to strike the Summer Six Pack on-course on Sunday.
Mr Hawtin’s winning ticket had correctly selected the first six horses over the line; Miss Colombia to win, Summer Queen to be placed 2nd, Keeparose to be placed 3rd, Fairgo to be placed 4th, Pincess to be placed 5th and Our Jubilee to be placed 6th.
When being presented with the Ford Focus car Mr Hawtin told the New Zealand Racing Board that the lure of winning the Ford Focus car coupled with the guaranteed $25,000 prize pools at each Destination Summer event had attracted Mr Hawtin back on-course for the third series.
Mr Hawtin came very close to striking the Summer Six Pack at a previous Destination Summer event where he successfully selected five of the six runners to cross the line in the correct order.
There are two more Ford Focus cars to be won on-course at Springfresh Destination Summer Holiday Racing events throughout the summer. To be in to win customers need to purchase a ticket in the Summer Six Pack on-course. Each Summer Six Pack bet placed on a Summer Six Pack race has a chance of winning a share of the guaranteed pool prize of $25,000.
Fine weather and good value family entertainment has seen on-course attendance at Springfresh Destination Summer Holiday Racing events climb to an estimated total of 150,000, up 50,000 on the two previous years. Customer research has shown that up to one third of the crowd are attending for the first-time.
