NZ Company set for great heights
Christchurch based Isotec Limited has been awarded the inaugural Zenago Emerging Business Award and with it a $50,000 helping hand.
Andrew Southen, Founder of Isotec has invented and patented a plumbing isolating valve (“Isovalve”) that enables plumbers to install plumbing fixtures and appliances without turning the water off.
A plumber by trade, Southen’s innovative product is set to change the face of the plumbing industry for years to come.
Considered an emerging company with real potential, Isotec has been in discussion with leading New Zealand design company Methven and major distributors in New Zealand and Australia
To add to the momentum Isotec was recently awarded the Zenago Emerging Business Award by Auckland based web design and software company Zenago.
Selected as the winner from over 60 entries, Isotec will receive a website to the value of $50,000.
Isotec’s Isovalve technology enables the plumber to enjoy several benefits at installation time, whilst the client receives the ongoing environmental benefits of water flow control saving themselves significant amounts of water and associated energy costs.
“There is no other competing product that can do this. We are now currently getting prepared to manufacture and take to market,” says Southen.
Isotec has a NZ patent on the Isovalve technology and an international patent pending.
The business has such potential that the Canterbury Economic Development Fund (CEDF) has granted $50,000 to complete an independent feasibility study with the intention to fund $600,000.
Paul Kelly, previously General Manager of Crane Distribution NZ Ltd, has been commissioned by CEDF to establish channels to market for Isotec both domestically and internationally.
Market research has indicated potential sales of up to 70,000 Isovalves annually within New Zealand and 280,000 to Australia.
The export potential of the Isovalve technology is massive as this type of valve is used worldwide. In some countries such as Canada, it is a legal requirement to use an isolating valve at every fixture.
