Global first for NZ Eco-fashion
New Zealand’s leading eco-fashion label, Untouched World, has notched up a global fashion first.
The company is the first fashion company in the world to be given permission by UNESCO to carry the United Nations
Decade of Education for Sustainable Development Education (UN DESD) logo on its labelling – one of a small number of
organisations internationally accredited.
Peri Drysdale, CEO Untouched World and Chairman of Untouched World Foundation says this is another first for Untouched
World and New Zealand fashion.
“We are delighted Untouched World has been recognised as a world leader in sustainable practices.
“This is the first time a New Zealand company has been invited to use the UN DESD label and it will put Untouched World
and New Zealand on the map as taking sustainable business practice seriously.
“Using the UN DESD logo reinforces our position globally as a leader in luxury ethical fashion,” she said.
Untouched World is one of the first fashion labels internationally to develop a brand philosophy with sustainable
development at its core. In May 2007 Untouched World became one of twelve global exemplars working with UNESCO in Bonn
on developing a strategy for corporate education for sustainability. Others include Shell, Cisco, Daimler Chrysler and
Swarovski.

The New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO.
“They are already implementing projects that are outstanding case studies for what is possible with sustainable
business.”
“Through Untouched World’s sustainable work practices and the work of the Untouched World Charitable Trust we are taking
steps towards making a positive impact on the future of our planet and its people,” said Peri Drysdale.
Profits raised through sales contribute to the running of the Untouched World Charitable Trust which, through four New
Zealand based programmes (Blumine Island Conservation and Restoration; Tiromoana “there is no such place as away”;
Ruapehu Kiwi Forever and Sustainable Cities – Auckland) promotes youth leadership and excellence in environmental,
social, cultural and economic sustainability.
