Tait Electronics Limited Appoints New Director

Tait Electronics Limited Appoints New Director

Former Nokia executive Rob Gill has been appointed as a non-executive director of Christchurch-based radio communications solutions company, Tait Electronics Limited (TEL).

Rob has more than 20 years experience working for international companies, before he established Auckland-based consulting company Tresco five years ago.

After spending his early career years in the merchant navy, Rob re-trained as a systems analyst and worked with IBM and Compaq.

Rob then gained nine years experience in the telecommunications industry working for Nokia in a variety of positions including the first managing director for Nokia NZ and the director of sales and marketing for Nokia Europe’s fixed networks. He was also Managing Director for Nokia Australia and GM Nokia Telecommunications Pacific Region based in Sydney.

“What attracts me to Tait is that it is a New Zealand company with an exciting future. Tait is a very successful export company fulfilling its ambitions of being a successful international company, which has many parallels to Nokia in the 1990s,” Rob says.

“In the next 10 years Tait faces some major challenges and decisions to drive it towards even greater success on the global stage. I want to be part of that.”

TEL board chairman Peter van Rij says Rob’s background in sales and marketing is a welcome asset to the board.

“Rob has already worked in the telecommunications industry and his time at Nokia will no doubt be an asset to this company. Also, he knows what it takes to be able to triumph from a base in New Zealand.”
