November 14th 2007 PRESS RELEASE For immediate release
Creative Wellington Business Women support ‘Dress For Success’ in Charity Fundraiser
Four local creative women have banded together to stage a fundraiser in support of the charity organisation Dress for Success.
Entertainment and refreshments will be provided in an evening when, Gitte Eklund Short (Art), Jo Luping (Jewellery) and
Nada Matthews/Jo Learmonth (deNada Fashion) will put up feature pieces for raffle.
Gitte’s new art exhibition will be unveiled and Jo will be presenting her 2007 series of jewellery; all pieces/works
will be for sale. deNada will put up the major donation to Dress for Success Wellington in the form of new designer
clothing matched dollar-for-dollar with sales on the night. The charity will benefit from up to $5000 in new clothing.
The event being held at deNada on 29 November brings together art, creativity, business and social entrepreneurship.
These values are echoed in the businesses of all three local designers. Using their positions in different branches of
the lifestyles industry they have put together a night that will enable support and encouragement to other women.
Carmel Russell, Executive Director for Dress for Success Wellington explains that the charity provides professional attire and advice to help improve a woman’s presentation skills and
interview success. Each client receives one outfit/suit for a job interview and additional clothing when she gains
employment and begins her working life.
“Support of talented and professional women such as Gitte, Jo and Nada will help us in our goals of advancing the
economic and social development of our clients and encouraging their self sufficiency through career development and
employment retention. By helping a woman succeed we encourage a positive role model and work ethic and we also help her
family and the community she lives and works in.”
Danish born Gitte Eklund Short is launching a new exhibition of acrylic and mixed media paintings illustrating the great richness, the diversity of
tranquillity and chaos that she notes has been brought upon her by belonging to two places at heart...New Zealand and
Denmark.
deNada launched in Featherston Street in September 2006 and has been involved in numerous events, both charity and otherwise.
Customers have come to value the stable but quirky designs that deNada are producing. The new range of deNada/Konev
handbags will be on show.
Jo Luping, printmaker, ceramicist, photographer and now jeweller produces work that is a selection of wearable art; miniature
photographs and paintings captured in resin and set within sterling silver. All the images are inspired by our New
Zealand landscape.
We would invite you to join us at 6pm on 29 November for a dynamic and exciting evening in support of this worthwhile
charity, Dress for Success Wellington. It would be a perfect time to find Christmas gifts for family and friends and at
the same time contribute towards a sizable donation to those less fortunate or less well supported within our community.
