Lawyer heads RM group
Camilla Owen, a partner in national and trans-Tasman law firm Duncan Cotterill, has been appointed as the new President of the Resource Management Law Association of New Zealand Inc (RMLA).
Established in 1992, the RMLA has an interest in the application of resource management law throughout New Zealand. It is a multi-disciplinary organisation with more than 1000 members.
Nelson-based Owen specialises in resource management and environmental law and has been involved in many key issues around New Zealand. She has been a member of the RMLA national committee since 2004 and was appointed Treasurer in 2005, a position she has held until this year. Owen also sits on the NZ Law Society Environmental Law Committee.
Blair Dickie has been appointed Secretary. Working for 24 years in local government, he is currently a programme manager in Environment Waikato’s Policy Group. He has been a member of the national committee of the RMLA for the past three years.
Helen Atkins is the newly-appointed Treasurer. A partner at DLA Phillips Fox, she specialises in public, environmental, resource management and local government law. Atkins was previously on the RMLA national committee from 1999-2005, Secretary for three of those years and Treasurer for two. She is a member of the Environmental Risk Management Authority and was part of the committee presiding over the 1080 hearings.
