Radio Pacific To Relaunch As Bsport

RadioWorks has confirmed a multi-year deal with the New Zealand Racing Board to rebrand and relaunch Radio Pacific as a new sports network: BSport – sport radio you can bet on.

On air from October 29, BSport will be complemented by Radio Trackside coverage as New Zealand’s first dedicated sport and racing network. It will combine youth and experience with the country’s most talented sportspeople and broadcasters.

The BSport breakfast team, weekdays 6am – 10am, will offer listeners in-depth sporting comment and opinion. Former Black Caps wicket-keeper Ian Smith, former Kiwi League International and sports promoter Dean Lonergan, sports commentator and radio broadcaster Nathan Rarere and TV3 sports journalist Kevin Sinnott are all names synonymous with sport and a powerful on-air combination.

Kevin Sinnott, former Black Cap Simon Doull and media commentator James McOnie will take their place on The Bench, daily from 10am to midday.

BSport will be a fresh take on both domestic and international sport with presenters who aren’t just talking heads.

Ian Smith, former Black Caps wicket-keeper, says the network will give listeners the most comprehensive and current sports betting information.

“The good thing about BSport is that we’ll be talking to the decision makers. It means we’ll have the good oil from the source. People will be able to listen and grow with us as a station, and learn about the politics of sport, as well as the effect those political decisions have on a team. It’s enormously engaging and interesting stuff.”

Sports and radio broadcaster, Nathan Rarere says the BSport on-air line-up brings the perfect combination of experience and informed opinion to the network.

“Ian Smith, Dean Lonergan and Simon Doull have been important contributors to their codes and have such great insight into the working of sport behind the games. Plus Kevin Sinnott and James McOnie are such experienced journalists, some of the stuff these guys come out with is sensational! We’re going to have some rugged debates.”

BSport is on-air from October 29, please see attached station profile for frequency information and full on-air schedule.
