Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort completes major renovation
Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort at Pauanui Beach has completed a major renovation to create a stunning guest experience at one of Coromandel's favourite hotels.
All of the resort's 42 private chalets have undergone extensive refurbishments to create a fresh, more contemporary look and feel, with all new décor and many new features. Furniture, carpet, curtains and fittings have been replaced and a neutral colour scheme that incorporates the hues of the surrounding native bush has been introduced, creating a relaxing atmosphere befitting of a Coromandel resort.
Each room also now boasts a flat screen television and DVD player for those lazy nights in after a day of exploring the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. A new room type has also been created: six executive apartments provide a luxury 'home away from home' with separate bedroom, full kitchen facilities, new furniture and a lounge with an electrical fireplace.
General Manager Stefan Kracke says the feedback from guests who have already stayed in the newly completed rooms has been fantastic.
"People just love the new rooms – the space feels fresh, new and natural. Returning guests especially are delighted at the refurbishment because the rooms are new and improved without taking away from the original feeling of a secluded lodge. Pauanui is a favourite with many Kiwis and overseas visitors and we wanted to ensure that we are offering a superb, luxurious experience with a distinctly New Zealand feel."
The refurbishments began in April and were completed in September. The restaurant and the spa treatment rooms have also been refurbished over the last two years. Grand Mercure Puka Park Resort is located in Pauanui Beach, two hours drive South-East of Auckland on the Coromandel Peninsula – one of New Zealand's top tourist destinations. This luxurious, secluded hideaway features 42 chalets set in 10 hectares of native bush, an award winning restaurant, guest lounge and sun decks with views over the Pacific Ocean. Facilities include tennis courts, spa, sauna and heated swimming pool, conference rooms and a day spa with a range of health and beauty treatments. The nearby beach, only a few minutes walk away, has 3km of golden sand and surf to explore. A ferry service operates to nearby Tairua, home to many cafes and art galleries.
