BNZ Weekly Overview - Sept 27 2007

Welcome to the September 27 edition of the BNZ Weekly Overview.


This week we have seen generally positive data released in New Zealand including a rise in consumer confidence in the September quarter, improving business sentiment, still strong growth in lending to the private sector, firm assurance of consents for residential and non-residential construction, and even a seasonally adjusted improvement in the net migration inflow. With help from a weakening greenback the Kiwi dollar is trading at almost 75.0 US cents this afternoon but we are down slightly against a much stronger Aussie currency.
