Ford New Zealand Announces Mondeo Line-Up and Pricing

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 25 September 2007

The dramatic all-new German-engineered Mondeo, Ford of Europe's most technically advanced car ever and the first production version of Ford's kinetic design styling, will be on sale from $35,990 in New Zealand later this year.

"The new Ford Mondeo is a smart eye-catching car that offers a huge array of sensational features and thoughtful attributes," said Ford New Zealand Marketing Manager Barbara MacGregor.

"Mondeo is an intuitive car that will cater to all levels of driver involvement thanks to its superb driving dynamics and appealing variety of powertrain options."

Depending on the model selected, Mondeo will be available in sedan, hatch or wagon bodystyles, with manual or automatic transmissions and one of two different trim levels – standard and Zetec.

"Customers can also chose from a new 2.3-litre Duratec 4-cylinder petrol engine coupled to the new Durashift 6-speed automatic transmission with a Sport mode or the 2.0-litre 4 cylinder petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual," said MacGregor.

"Premium quality materials, exemplary driving dynamics and an extensive feature list are all hallmarks of the smart new Europeani engineered Mondeo, which will introduce new levels of refinement, comfort and safety to the segment.

"The new Mondeo features an impressive no-compromise array of active and passive safety technologies including Dynamic Stability Control (DCS) and new driver's knee airbag as standard across the range," said MacGregor.

"At a recommended retail price of just $35,990, the 2.0-litre manual sedan Mondeo will appeal to customers who want a wide range of modern safety, comfort and convenience features in a stylish car that offers class leading driving dynamics."

Both powertrain combinations are available in either a classic 4 door sedan or 4 door wagon which both feature a strong silhouette with the A-pillar angle blending through to each of the bodystyles.

"Customers who want a sporty vehicle will love the new Mondeo Zetec 2.3-litre hatch – with standard features 16 inch alloy wheels, dual zone climate control, a 6 stack CD player and an upgraded trim package, it brings high levels of comfort and a quality feel," said MacGregor.

Customers can further option their Mondeo Zetec with a Sports Pack which includes 17 inch alloy wheels, a sporty body kit and leather trim.

Ford's distinctive and dynamic kinetic design styling language, expressing energy in motion, creates a sleek and dynamic profile and delivers a design presence that signals power and grace.

"Mondeo is an eye-catching design which dares to be different, yet achieves a level of sophistication and poise usually expected in a more expensive vehicle," said MacGregor.

The Ford Mondeo has always been acclaimed for its driving quality and the new Mondeo will extend the model's reputation in this area.

It combines sporty driving dynamics with a refined ride and minimal noise, vibration and harshness.

The Mondeo development team also paid special attention to the car's suspension and steering system. The major modifications include a wider track; optimized front suspension design, new rear suspension design, isolated rear subframe and optimized steering system.

"The new Mondeo will bring prospective buyers to Ford showrooms and create a whole new wave of Mondeo enthusiasts," said MacGregor.

"Since it was revealed in Europe in March, we have been inundated with enquiries from customers wanting to know more about this exciting car.

"As a result, we have launched an interactive Mondeo microsite on our popular www.ford.co.nz website where customers can register for exclusive access to information about the new Mondeo including pricing and specification details," concluded MacGregor.
