Cock &
Bull’s Monk’s Habit celebrates its tenth year of
production with yet another Gold Medal and Best in Class win
at the recent Brew NZ Beer Awards held in Wellington earlier
this month.
Monk’s Habit is not only the most awarded beer in the country with a total of 56 medals and trophies in the last 10 years, but the highest awarded, including being the only beer ever to win the Supreme Champion Award more than once. This latest trophy brings the total to16 “Best in Class” trophies on the shelf.
Production of Monk’s Habit started back in 1997 and was the first full time beer addition to the Cock & Bull original family of beers that was launched in 1995.
Head Brewer, Luke Nicholas, who has been brewing since the first batch of Monk’s says “ Every year the feedback from the beer judges is the same “wow, this is an amazing beer”.
Luke says “Even though it is the most award beer of the Cock & Bull family of beers, it isn’t the biggest seller. It is a beer that you savour, enjoy and respect.”
The heavily hopped strong ale comes in at 7% alc/vol. The aroma offers amazing intensity of fruitiness, including passionfruit, apricot, peaches and lychees (all coming from the hops). The flavours explode in the mouth with an incredible balance of hop driven fruitiness and sweet caramel malt.
Monk’s Habit is available on tap only at the five Cock & Bull pubs in Auckland & Hamilton, plus the Malthouse in Wellington. Takeaway 1.5 litre Pub PET’s (flagons) are available on request from the Cock & Bull pubs.
