Fairfax Media Fills Group Publishing Role

Fairfax Media Fills Newly Created Group Publishing Role

Fairfax Media has appointed Rodger Shepherd to the newly created position of Group Head of Publishing.

Rodger was formerly Chief Executive Officer of PMP NZ Limited, New Zealand's largest printing group with revenues of $300 million and a staff of 900.

In his new role Rodger will have responsibility for the revenue, profit, circulation and readership performance of Fairfax Media's newspaper and magazine businesses.

Chief Executive Joan Withers said the appointment of Mr Shepherd was part of Fairfax Media's realignment of its business structure announced in July.

"I am delighted after an extensive recruitment process to have secured the appointment of Rodger Shepherd. Rodger's achievements at PMP and in his other roles have been outstanding and I look forward to working alongside him as we continue to develop and grow the business.

"Fairfax Media's core strengths are in the gathering and packaging of news, information and entertainment, and its distribution across all three platforms," said Withers.

"The platforms we are creating will draw the large readership and viewing audiences that advertisers will wish to reach to promote their products and services.

"Rodger will deputise for me when required."

Prior to joining PMP Mr Shepherd spent more than 11 years with various Fletcher business units, including spells in Canada and as head of its shipping agency company.
