Air New Zealand announces Deputy CEO
Air New Zealand today announced the appointment of Norm Thompson to the newly created role of Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
Chief Executive Officer Rob Fyfe said that the last year had seen a significant amount of change across Air New Zealand, with the airline well positioned to take advantage of strong growth in many of its key markets, adapt to new competitors and changing customer expectations.
“Looking ahead there is still much to do to ensure Air New Zealand keeps ahead of the game. The new role of Deputy CEO has been created to ensure we maintain our momentum and build on the uniquely Kiwi experiences that we deliver to our customers.”
Mr Fyfe said he was delighted to announce Mr Thompson’s appointment to the key role.
“Norm’s achievements at Air New Zealand and in the New Zealand tourism industry are well recognised across the New Zealand business community. He will be a great asset to me and I look forward to working alongside him in his new position.”
Currently Air New Zealand’s Group General Manager Shorthaul Airlines, Mr Thompson is considered an Air New Zealand ‘veteran’, with more than 38 years experience in a variety of roles both in New Zealand and off-shore.
Mr Thompson will take up his new role as Deputy CEO once his successor has been appointed.
