Robyn Langwell associate editor of Sunday Herald

MEDIA RELEASE, August 29, 2007

Former North & South editor Robyn Langwell has been appointed associate editor of the Herald on Sunday.

One of New Zealand's most highly respected and influential journalists, Langwell joins the newspaper next week after 22 years at the helm of North & South.

Herald on Sunday editor Shayne Currie said the appointment of Langwell was a coup for the newspaper in the competitive Sunday market. "Robyn's intelligence and passion for journalism and writing -- and her ability to tap into the hearts and minds of 'middle New Zealand' -- will give us a major boost as we head into our fourth year."

The Herald on Sunday turns three in October. It is already the best-read Sunday newspaper in Auckland and north of Taupo.

As well as writing for the Herald on Sunday, Langwell will be overseeing the newspaper's magazines and assisting news reporters and other senior editors.

Last week, the newspaper also announced the appointment of senior TVNZ staffer and another of New Zealand's most respected journalists, Carolyne Meng-Yee, as assistant editor.
