$8.3 Million Prize still Unclaimed

28 August 2007

Check Your Tickets - as $8.3 Million Prize still Unclaimed

Hasting residents, and recent visitors to the region, are being urged to check their wallets for a lucky Lotto ticket that is worth $8.3 million, says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.

"There's much more than fruit waiting to be picked up in Hastings this week," he said.

The weekend's winning Lotto Powerball ticket was purchased at Countdown Lotto in Hastings and is worth a total of $8,369,987.

Since the first live draw twenty years ago on 1 August 1987, the Lotto family has made 421 millionaires and multi-millionaires.

This is the third big Powerball prize to be won since mid-June. It was last won on 30 June in Christchurch, with that lucky player taking home $2,306,601, while on June 16, a lucky player who purchased their ticket at Haywards Paper Power in Devonport on the North Shore won a $4,436,871 Powerball prize.

Mr McLeay's advice for the big winner is to write their name and details on the back of their ticket and then get in touch with NZ Lotteries' Wellington office on 04 802 7000.
