Harcourts Long-Term Hospice Supporter Leads Vital Fundraiser

Long-term supporters of the Hibiscus Coast Hospice, Harcourts Orewa and Harcourts Whangaparaoa are providing the expertise to market and sell Hospice property to help provide funding for a new community palliative care centre.
The Hibiscus Coast Hospice cares for people with terminal illnesses at no cost to patients and families and was established in 1992 by local residents. In 1993 following a generous donation and other support, an administrative centre was acquired in Orewa and the following year an adjoining property acquired. The Trust relies heavily on donations, grants and bequests with only a quarter of funding provided by the Government through the local Health Board.
Colin Hair personally, and the team at Colin Hair Realty Ltd (Harcourts Orewa and Harcourts Whangaparaoa) have been long term Hospice supporters through having donated several thousands of dollars via a fixed amount per sale for a period of time, and conducting charity auctions.
Branch Manager of Harcourts Orewa, Sabine Davison, said while the properties themselves are no longer required by the Hospice, the proceeds from the sale will play a significant part in fundraising towards the new premises currently being built.
38 Pohutukawa Avenue is a 25 year old brick building on 809sqm which could be restored back into a family home. Its stunning position bordering the estuary and the potential for flexible family living with rumpus and kitchenette downstairs, along with sweeping views across estuary equally suits a development or rental investment. 40 Pohutukawa Avenue is a one bedroom elevated and sunny bach on 809sqm with views across the estuary and Orewa.
Ms Davison said, “We believe the target market for the properties will include investors/developers as well as families who could return the main house to its original use as a family home with a lovely big section, and for the second property, some-one looking for a ‘do-up bach’ or holiday pad.”
She added, “We are really delighted to assist this worthwhile community organisation on an ongoing basis and to provide our services for this particular fundraiser at no cost to the Hospice. Our campaign for the properties covers a high level of marketing including direct contact with our extensive databases, working and negotiating with current and new buyers, and conducting at least eight open homes per property in the lead-up to the tender closing date.
“We would also like to acknowledge the support of Maxum (publishers of Harcourts Bluebook), Hibiscus Coast Property Press, and ABC Photosigns who have all got behind the project to sponsor various parts of it for a really high profile campaign.”
Julie Joyce, General Manager of Hibiscus Coast Hospice, said that the sale of the property would play an important part in their new facilities. “Harcourts has been very generous in their support both for this and over the years,” adding that, “the whole community has been amazing, and we don’t have the words to describe how much support they’ve shown throughout the fundraising campaign.”
Ms Joyce noted “However our next big challenge is to secure funding for our in patient unit and hopefully we can achieve this with the ongoing support of our community.”
Ms Davison noted that the properties at 38 and 40 Pohutukawa Avenue are zoned residential and are being offered for sale by Tender which closes 21 September 2007, 4pm.
