Prime TV Pulls Record Audiences
For the second consecutive week, PRIME Television has achieved a record ratings result with the channel’s highest ever audience share (7.2%) amongst all people 5+, an increase of 16% compared with the same week last year.
In PRIME’s target audience of all people aged 25-54, the channel also achieved its best ever peak audience share of 7.0% for the second consecutive week, 11% higher than in the same week last year.
The growth in August comes on top of PRIME’s record-breaking result in July, when the channel achieved its highest ever monthly cumulative audience with over 2.4 million people tuning in.
PRIME Channel Manager Karen Bieleski said “We are naturally delighted that audiences are responding so well to our new programmes such as America’s Got Talent and Robin Hood, as well as existing favourites like Doctor Who, PRIME Presents and PRIME News.
“Last year, PRIME achieved its highest ratings in the second half the year, and we are confident that we will repeat this pattern in 2007. We are still to launch some fantastic new series like Flight Of The Conchords and our local sitcom, Welcome To Paradise, which will both premiere next month exclusively on PRIME.”
PRIME increased channel share is due to the popularity of new shows including America's Got Talent, Robin Hood and Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader along with regular favourites Top Gear, Doctor Who, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, United Travel Getaway, Wife Swap, The Crowd Goes Wild and Midsomer Murders.
