Eden Albert Councillors back locals over McDonalds Balmoral application
In a historic move, all three current ward Councillors in Eden-Albert have submitted individually against the 24/7 McDonalds restaurant proposed for Balmoral.
Councillors Fryer, Casey and Abel are all Planning Commissioners and have opted to support community opposition to the McDonalds resource consent proposal and in so doing have given up their right to sit as Planning Commissioners to hear the application.
“We believe it is far more important to aid and assist the local community against the might of a global giant like McDonalds” say the Councillors.
“McDonalds should look for another site and pack in its bid to build a round-the-clock drive-through restaurant in the heart of a quiet residential area like Balmoral. We will do everything we can as Councillors to halt this development”.
Auckland City Environs had received 844 submissions by the closing date for submissions last week.
