Next Fairfax Media Intern Test on September 1

Next Fairfax Media Intern Test on September 1

The second intake of Fairfax Media’s Journalism Intern Scheme has attracted close to 130 applications.

Fairfax Media Editorial Development Manager, Clive Lind, said he was impressed with the quality of this year’s candidates and anticipated that a high percentage would go through to the next stage of selection.

Initial assessments will take about a week and applicants will be advised as quickly as possible if they are to sit the written tests on September 1.

The Fairfax Media Intern Scheme is designed to grow the quality, diversity and scope of journalism in New Zealand. “We're delighted to have again attracted a large number of potentially great talents. Our editors have a difficult task ahead of them in choosing our final selection of around 20," said Lind.

The selection process is expected to be completed by the end of October and successful interns will start their journalistic training from February next year. Fairfax Media will reimburse the study fees of those who pass and, as well as on-going training, will provide challenging work in Fairfax newsrooms.

Applicants will be advised of their progress via email and through the Fairfax Media website. Any queries should be addressed to Clive Lind, Fairfax media editorial development manager, at clive.lind@fairfaxmedia.co.nz or 027 2467771.

Seventeen interns chosen by Fairfax Media editors last year are currently studying at their chosen journalism schools.
