Candidates For Fonterra Elections Announced

There will be an election for the Fonterra Board of Directors this year. There are five candidates for the three vacancies on the Board. Nominations closed at midday Thursday 9 August.

The five candidates for the Board of Directors’ election are Neil Walker, Ian Farrelly, Gavin Faull and the two current Directors Malcolm Bailey and Henry van der Heyden. All five candidates have taken part in the Candidate Assessment Panel (CAP) process.

The Returning Officer, Warwick Lampp, also confirmed there would be no election for the Directors’ Remuneration Committee, as shareholders Gerard Wolvers and Ron Ferriman have been elected unopposed.

Voter packs, containing candidate profiles, will be mailed to shareholders on Tuesday 28 August 2007. The candidate profiles document will include the Candidate Assessment Panel’s assessment matrix, outlining each candidate’s level of skill and experience in key governance competencies. Each candidate profile will also include an Interest Statement.

Shareholders can vote by internet, fax and postal voting, using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) voting system. Voting will run from 28 August to 25 September with the results announced at the Annual Meeting on Wednesday 26 September at Mystery Creek, Hamilton.

Fonterra Shareholders have the opportunity to meet Director candidates and ask questions at the following Director Candidate Roadshow meetings.
