Mattel Announces Voluntary Recall of Select Fisher-Price Licensed Character Toys
AUCKLAND, Aug.1 /Medianet International-AsiaNet/ --
Consumers can contact Mattel directly to determine if their product is affected and to receive a cash refund to the value of the returned product
Mattel (NZ) today announced a voluntary consumer recall of select Fisher-Price Licensed Character Toys including Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer and other children's toys, purchased from 1 May to 2 August 2007.
Surface paints on the affected toys may contain increased levels of lead, which if ingested, may have health ramifications.
There have been no reports of injuries involving the affected products in New Zealand or overseas.
Affected product may have been sold alone or as part of a set.
Parents should take affected Fisher-Price Licensed Character Toys away from children immediately.
No other Mattel/ Fisher-Price products are affected by this recall.
The affected products were sold at major toy retailers and independent toy retailers throughout New Zealand.
All affected toys are marked Fisher-Price and have a date code between 109-7LF and 187-7LF marked on the product.

Consumers can contact Mattel (NZ) toll-free on 0800-174-063 between Monday to Friday 10am to 7pm or visit www.service.mattel.com to determine if their product is affected. Return of affected toys will be direct with Mattel and at Mattel's expense. Retail stores are not able to refund any of the recalled products. Consumers will receive a cash refund to the value of the returned product.
