Beat the winter blues on Norfolk Island

Winter is a great time to get away - and the Pacific paradise that is Norfolk Island has everything you need for a winter escape.

Air New Zealand now flies to and from Norfolk Island on Thursdays and Sundays so it’s perfect for an extended weekend break.

With an average temperature of 19°C in winter and a rich colonial history, Norfolk Island is a sub-tropical paradise offering many interesting attractions for kiwi visitors.

You can visit the local museum or go on one of the many historical tours and learn about Norfolk’s fascinatingly gruesome convict past.  If you are looking for something more active try a bush walk in the National Park or a game of golf on the scenic course in the historic Kingston area.

For something more relaxing pamper yourself at one of Norfolk Island’s reasonably-priced beauty salons, or go shopping and check out the Island’s cultural products, art and low-tax perfumes and clothing.

If trying new food and drink is more your thing you can eat out at a different café or restaurant every day or experience the taste of locally produced coffee, beer and liqueurs.

Or if you want a more hands on cultural experience, try John Christian and Maree Christian-Reynolds’ Norfolk Island Cooking Classes. Here you will enjoy preparing, cooking and eating traditional island dishes such as Coconut bread, Tahitian fish (marinated in lemon juice and coconut cream) and green banana fritter.
