InternetNZ welcomes LLU draft determinations

InternetNZ welcomes LLU draft determinations

Tuesday 31 July 2007

InternetNZ Executive Director Keith Davidson today welcomed the release of draft determinations for the LLU and co-location services, including draft prices.

"The LLU price of $16.49 per line in urban areas is competitive, and provides a good incentive to ISPs to invest in DSLAM infrastructure in the urban areas," Davidson said.

"The rural LLU price of $32.20 per line is high, and reinforces the need for the government to come to the table with its oft-mentioned rural broadband package.

InternetNZ will be working through the details of the draft determinations in the coming days, and further comment may be offered.

"Now that the draft prices are known, ISPs can begin to finalise their investment plans. InternetNZ hopes to hear firm commitments to investment that will deliver better broadband for New Zealanders, sooner rather than later.

"I also congratulate the Commission for making such speedy progress in this complicated area," concluded Keith Davidson.
