Miramar Film Companies Pleased With Changes To Screen Grant
The changes to the Large Budget Screen Production Grant (LBSPG) announced today by Minister for Economic Development Hon. Trevor Mallard are well supported by the group of film companies based in Miramar that include Wingnut Films Ltd, Weta Digital, Weta Workshop, Park Road Post Production, Stone Street Studios, Camperdown Studios and Portsmouth Hire.
All companies in the group have well-established international reputations and will each be directly affected by the changes.
Acting as spokesperson for the group, General Manager of Park Road Post Production Aimee McCammon said the changes to the LBSPG acknowledge the film industry, in both services and product, as a significant New Zealand export.
“Economically a move like this can only be seen as positive. International clients like working in New Zealand and the review of the LBSPG makes our country a more attractive and competitive filmmaking destination in the global marketplace.
“Increasing our appeal as a filmmaking nation means the local industry can expect to see strengthened infrastructure and crew skills, creating a healthy environment for the industry nationwide.”
The changes to the LBSPG are effective from today.
