Harcourts Auctioneers Dominate National Competition

Harcourts has again dominated the Senior and Novice categories of the Real Estate Institute’s (REINZ) National Auctioneer Championships which were held in Auckland last week.

Last year’s REINZ National Auction Champion, Phil McGoldrick (who is Harcourts’ National Auction Manager) was announced runner-up this year and will be one of two Auctioneers representing New Zealand at the Australasian competition later this year along with this year’s winner, Mark Sumich who was runner-up in the New Zealand competition last year. Both represented New Zealand at last year’s Australasians, with Mr McGoldrick the first New Zealander to ever reach the finals.

This year for the first time ever, Harcourts also dominated the senior category with three Auctioneers out of the four finalists. As well as Mr McGoldrick, two other Harcourts finalists were Luke Jansen from Harcourts Wellington (recently named Harcourts’ #1 Auctioneer 2007) and Andrew North from Harcourts Takapuna (Harcourts’ former National Auction Manager).

The Novice category was won by Owen Patterson from Harcourts Beckenham in Christchurch. Last year’s Novice category winner was another Harcourts Auctioneer, Hayden Broadbelt from Harcourts Belfast (North of Christchurch).

Overall, Harcourts had 14 Auctioneers taking part in the competition which had a total of 35 Auctioneers from throughout the country.

Harcourts New Zealand General Manager, Jo-Anne Clifford congratulated Harcourts’ Auctioneers for not only achieving at such a consistently high level, but also making the commitment to train and compete which ultimately meant becoming more skilled in order to benefit their clients. “We are very proud to have dominated both the competition and the finals and wish Phil McGoldrick well as he competes for our country later this year. It is also a great pleasure to congratulate Owen Patterson as an emerging talent in this profession.”
