Monthly Traffic May 2007 -- Auckland International Airport

International passenger volumes continued to grow in May 2007, up 6.5% over the same period last year and 2.3% for the financial year to date.

International arrivals and departures were up 5.5% and 7.4%, respectively. New Zealand resident arrivals were up 10.2% compared to the same period last year.

Major inbound markets were mixed, with Australia and the USA marginally up, offset by the UK which was down 5.9%.

The Asian markets (China, Korea and Japan) were also mixed, with Chinese arrivals easing slightly this month, but up 21.6% for the year to date. Arrivals from India increased 18.7% in the month of May.

Domestic passengers were down 2.4% compared to same period last year but are up 1.9% for the financial year to date.

International aircraft movements and domestic aircraft movements eased 0.5% and 2.0%, respectively, in May.
