Mazda Bucks Industry Trend In June
Best June On Record For Mazda NX
Strong demand for the BT-50 and Mazda3 saw Mazda New Zealand achieve its best June on record.
With retail sales of 626, Mazda New Zealand was up an impressive 29% on June last year resulting in a 7% market share for June 07.
YTD June 07 Mazda sales are up 9.4 % while the industry as a whole was down 0.4% for the same period. The company has sold 3,165 vehicles (passenger and commercial) compared to 2,887 for the corresponding period last year.
Andrew Clearwater, managing director Mazda New Zealand said June was an incredible result for the company.
“All the economic evidence indicates a tightening of the economy and the overall industry figure showed a slight drop but for us it was a very strong month.
“The Mazda3 and BT-50 led the charge with strong support from the Mazda6 that maintains its position as the number one selling vehicle YTD in the medium car segment. This is an amazing result for a vehicle in the fifth year of its life cycle.
“June was also encouraging because we know if we had access to greater stock numbers in some models we could have sold more.”
Reaction from New Zealand motoring journalists who got the opportunity to test drive the all new Mazda2 in Europe last month gives Clearwater confidence about sales for the remainder of the year.
“The journalists were very impressed with one writing it was the best Japanese small car he has ever looked at or driven and one he would be pleased to put up against cream of the Europeans.”
“When it is launched in October this year it will give us and our dealers a fantastic range of vehicles that will all have the Zoom-Zoom factor,” concluded Clearwater.
