Tough Competition to Find Harcourts’ #1 Auctioneer

NEWS RELEASE

Tough Competition to Find Harcourts’ #1 National Auctioneer

A tough competition showcasing auction excellence has seen consistent high performer and competition finalist Luke Jansen from Harcourts Team Wellington achieve Harcourts’ coveted national Auctioneer of the Year Award. The announcement was made at Harcourts' Annual three day Conference in late May after the finalists conducted a competition auction in front of 500 of their Harcourts peers and independent judges.

The annual competition includes both a senior and a novice category with 26 Harcourts Auctioneers competing this year. Some of Mr Jansen’s very tough competition included the other three finalists Grant Child (Tauranga – Harcourts’ Top Auctioneer 2006), Andrew North (Takapuna – former Harcourts National Auction Manager), Hayden Broadbelt (Belfast – 2006 REINZ Novice Auctioneer Winner).

With a nine year career in radio prior to joining real estate 13 years ago, Luke Jansen said his voice has always been an important part of his career. As Sales Manager for Harcourts Kilbirnie (as well as Harcourts’ Team Wellington Auctioneer), Mr Jansen said he sees all sides of the auction process from helping his team with listing presentations through to when “the hammer falls”.

A firm believer in continuously improving his skill, Mr Jansen has competed in Harcourts’ Auction Championships for the last six years, achieving a spot in the finals four times. With his perseverance finally paying off this year, he believes challenging himself to increase his skill through auction competitions well as ongoing training through Harcourts and other industry auction courses was a winning combination.

CEO of Harcourts New Zealand (and past New Zealand auction representative) Bryan Thomson, said, “The professionalism of our auctioneers plays a massive part in the outstanding results we focus on achieving for our clients. Luke Jansen is a seasoned professional with a reputation for excellence and is renowned for his skill and very high ‘under the hammer’ success rate. The commitment to ongoing professional development from highly experienced auctioneers like Luke is all part of our own commitment to provide the very best service and results possible for our clients.”

Sabine Davison from Harcourts Orewa made Harcourts history this year as the first woman to win a Harcourts national auction title when she took home the Most Promising Auctioneer novice award.
