M-co welcomes Electricity Commission decision

M-co Chief Operating Officer Carl Hansen today said the company was delighted at the Electricity Commission’s decision to award it four out of five energy market operation roles.

The Electricity Commission announced today that M-co has won the tender to fulfil three roles it previously held: the Wholesale Information and Trading System (WITS), the Pricing Manager, and the Clearing Manager roles. In addition, it has been awarded the Reconciliation Manager role.

“The centrepiece of our proposal to the Commission was to integrate the disparate components of the market systems,” said Mr Hansen. “Our vision is to create a central information hub through which all electricity information is processed.”

“Our team is deeply committed to operating an efficient, flexible and reliable electricity market, that meets and exceeds the expectations of all participants,” Mr Hansen said.
