BP Vouchers for
Volunteers
BP New Zealand has today announced the successful applicants of the ‘BP Vouchers for Volunteers’ programme.
The programme launched last month, invited applications from volunteer organisations for thousands of BP fuel vouchers. Registered charities or volunteer organisations that rely on voluntary assistance and use vehicles were eligible to apply.
Managing Director Peter Griffiths said “every day thousands of volunteers give up their spare time to help others who are less fortunate. BP New Zealand recognises that increasing global fuel prices are having a big impact on volunteers who use vehicles to do their work. We wanted to do our bit to help out.”
Mr Griffiths said “we received over 1100 applications from around the country. The number of people giving so generously of their own time and money for all these amazing organisations was also overwhelming.”
“We are pleased to announce that 317 voluntary organisations will receive BP fuel vouchers as part of the BP Vouchers for Volunteers programme. The organisations are spread right throughout New Zealand and are performing a wide variety of functions in their community.” he said.
Mr Griffiths said “this is our way of saying thank you to the many volunteers around the country who work long hours to help others in the community by helping them in a practical way to continue that work.”
Successful applicants have been advised by email and in today’s Sunday Star Times.
