Jason Travel Media purchase of Holiday Guide

Media Release
21 June 2007

Jason Travel Media purchase of Holiday Guide

The Motel Association of New Zealand represents over 1,000 businesses and organisations within the Accommodation industry.

Members operate in virtually every location in New Zealand. Motels are run by the operators who live on site.
Motels are New Zealand's largest provider of accommodation– accounting for 34.% of this country's commercial accommodation.

The Motel Association organises the New Zealand Motel Industry Conference and the AA Host of the Year Awards.
Go to www.manz.co.nz "We are delighted with Jason Travel Media's purchase of the Holiday Guide suite of products" said Michael Baines Chief Executive of the Motel Association of New Zealand Inc on the announcement of the purchase today.

"We are delighted that these products will be taken to the next level by Jasons and the preservation of the commission free booking environment is particularly exciting."

"We have worked for many years with Holiday Guide to develop a suite of products that is of great value to the membership.
The Duty Motel product was developed to allow members of the association to identify where rooms were still available, at any given time, and provide a referral service to other members in the vicinity or indeed anywhere to any member in New Zealand!

This particularly successful programme evolved into Holiday guide and then into "Room Search" said Mr Baines.

There has been a significant growth in the use of "Online" booking engines and it is obvious that the ease of booking on the web is becoming a real option for those seeking accommodation. Jasons have always provided members with that option in a paper based form (i.e. the directories) and now they are continuing that tradition in cyberspace." said Mr Baines.

The ability to enter rooms in one area and have it distributed through many channels is also very attractive to the members. Managing inventory on line has become increasingly problematical for moteliers and in fact all accommodation providers, this development will provide a tremendous opportunity for everyone!

"Motels sell over 3,000,000 bed nights to international tourists and this will provide the motelier with another quality tool to talk directly with those wishing to visit New Zealand. It will also give New Zealanders a tremendous tool for them to locate and book accommodation inside New Zealand with members. As an association we are very supportive of domestic tourism and this acquisition by Jasons will add real impetus to this." said Mr Baines.
