New hot-beverage Phoenix range from Charlie’s

New hot-beverage Phoenix range from Charlie’s

Listed beverage maker Charlie’s Group Ltd has launched a new range of Phoenix Hot Beverages made at its Henderson plant which will be on sale from Monday, June 25.

Their release follows the success of Phoenix Chai which, since its launch four years ago, has proved highly popular with café customers nationwide.

Like Chai, the three offerings are sold as a concentrate so the café barista can create a delicious hot drink by mixing it with hot milk, soy or water.

The Hot Beverages range, which reflects a growing market demand in cafés for high-quality exotic beverages and coffee alternatives, is:

• Coco Love –– A South American-inspired spicy hot chocolate
• Berry Well –– a flu fighting blend of Echinacea, Honey, Lemons and Blackcurrants
• Lemon Toddy –– Just like Mum used to make, a classic combination of Lemon, Honey and a hint of Ginger

These complement the existing Phoenix Chai, which is an exotic blend of natural spices, teas and essences from around the world, and the range of Stash Teas the company provides under licence to cafés.

Charlie’s chief executive Stefan Lepionka said Phoenix had proved a potent brand since Charlie’s acquired the Phoenix Organics Group in 2005.

He said the development of Phoenix Hot Beverages range was a natural development in the increasingly specialised beverages market. It would assist café staff while providing customers with even greater beverage choice.

“Customers know what they want. They have come to associate Phoenix with quality and health. The timing of the launch of the new beverages could not be better for us or our customers coming into the winter months,” Mr Lepionka said.

Marketing manager Ron Curteis said Phoenix had a loyal customer base that expected “excitement and quality” in beverages.

“This range of products signals our intent to grow our relationship with the café channel, providing them with the variety to meet their consumer’s demands, all through the respected and trusted Phoenix brand,” he said.

”We have every expectation that customers will come to ask for Coco Love, Berry Well and Lemon Toddy by name, just as they do for Phoenix Chai.”

Note to editors: Charlie’s Trading Company Ltd was formed in 1999 and listed on the NZX in July 2005 via a reverse acquisition of the shell company Charlie’s Group Ltd (formerly Spectrum Resources Ltd). It is a leading marketer, manufacturer and supplier of a range of premium juices and beverages. In 2005 it doubled in size with the acquisition of the Phoenix Organics Group. Charlie’s most recent financial result, for the six months ended December 31, 2006, recorded operating revenue of nearly $11.7 million resulting in a surplus before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation of $636,000.
