Nadi – Rarotonga Route Suspended

Media Release
19 June 2007

Nadi – Rarotonga Route Suspended

Air New Zealand today announced that it would be suspending its Nadi – Rarotonga service, effective from October 27 this year.

Air New Zealand’s Pacific Island Manager, Peter Walsh, says that there is insufficient demand to warrant retaining the once a week service.

“Regrettably, the numbers of customers travelling on this route have continued to decline over the past 16 months despite our best efforts to stimulate growth,” Mr Walsh says.

“Air New Zealand recently introduced a new non-stop service Los Angeles - Rarotonga and also operates Los Angeles – Nadi direct. Coupling these two options with our new Air Pacific code-share service we still offer unequalled product from the Northern Hemisphere to passengers wanting to visit both Fiji and the Cook Islands.”

Customers wishing to visit both Fiji and the Cook Islands will now travel via Auckland.
