Simon Upton Joins PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Advisor
PricewaterhouseCoopers is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Upton who joins as an advisor to the New Zealand firm. Mr Upton will work across a number of areas at PwC including the public sector, policy development, sustainability and climate change services.
Mr Upton is a former Member of Parliament and Cabinet minister. While at the Beehive his portfolios included research, science and technology, the environment, health, cultural affairs, biosecurity, finance, foreign affairs and state services.
Up until January of this year he chaired the Round Table on Sustainable Development at the OECD, a role which he started while still in Parliament in 1998. The Round Table is a forum that brings together ministers, senior management from intergovernmental organisations, private sector executives, academics and non-governmental organisations.
Most recently, Mr Upton has been involved in a variety of policy and business projects in both governance and advisory capacities.
John Waller, who leads the Advisory practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, said Mr Upton’s appointment was an important one. “Simon is a person of the highest calibre and his experience, network and skills will undoubtedly be a real asset in a number of critical areas identified by PwC in New Zealand.”
