New chief executive for Veterinary Association

The Veterinary Association has appointed Julie Hood as its new chief executive, replacing Murray Gibb who has stepped down after nine years in the role.

Julie has a background in health. She was the general manager of Wakefield Health (Wellington Hospitals) for a year, and prior to that she was director of nursing/chief operating officer of Wakefield Hospital. Her qualifications include an MBA from Victoria University.

NZVA president John Maclachlan says, “Julie Hood comes with outstanding credentials. The Board is delighted that she has accepted the appointment.

“We believe Julie has the skills and attributes to manage the organisation into an exciting future, along with the enthusiasm and personality to address the challenges ahead.”

Julie Hood began her new role on 1 June.
